Security of innocent people should be ensured before military operation; respected Ulema speak at #GeoTV programme ‘#AalimOnline’

Wednesday, February 26, 2014

KARACHI: Internationally renowned research scholar Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain has said that in view of the serious challenges Pakistan is facing, it is not admissible to invite the Taliban to play a cricket match.

He said that such an invitation was tantamount to toying with the emotions of the masses. Moreover it depicts the apathy of the government in the negotiations process, he added.

Talking to honourable religious scholars from different schools of thought in Geo TV live programme, ‘Aalim Online’, Dr Amir said that there seemed no room for reformation in the current scenario but hope should not be lost and the negotiations should progress forward. He opined that if the military operation became indispensable, the security of women and children must be ensured.

He also refuted the impression spread by some circles that the Taliban commander Asmatullah Shaheen was killed because he supported the talks. He was of the view that the whole nation was building consensus on one point, which was a positive development.

Speaking in the programme, Mufti Muhammad Abid Mubarak said that murder of every single human being was condemnable; however, it was also necessary to punish the killers of thousands of innocent persons. He remarked that though talks were a solution to every problem, but the talks become productive only after each side accept its mistakes.

He appealed to the government to ensure the security of women and children before any military action.Mufti Muhammad Azhar Alam Siddiqui said the doors of dialogue did never close, and the wars’ logical end was through talks, if any of the sides did not spoil the process.

He said the loss of innocent lives on daily basis was totally un-Islamic.Talking to Dr Amir on telephone, Maulana Syed Muhammad Ali Zaidi Al-Hussaini said that talks of a cricket match with the Taliban were ridiculous and depicted non-seriousness of the government. He added that there should be no talks if the Taliban did not announce unconditional ceasefire.Todays-News-13-28780-Invitation-for-cricket-match-to-Taliban-unwise-Dr-Amir
