Ulema see conspiracy to target Hindu temples

‘Alim Online’

KARACHI: Denouncing attacks on Sindh temples including those situated in Larkana and Hyderabad, country’s renowned Ulema said that a conspiracy had been hatched for targeting Hindus’ places of worship on the basis of an unconfirmed incident.

In the special live programme of ‘Alim Online’, eminent religious scholars stated while talking to host of the programme, Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain, that some elements wanted to sabotage efforts for interfaith harmony by creating disagreement between different religious communities in Pakistan.

“Muslims and other communities should fail these attempts,” they remarked. They noted that followers of all the religions were being targeted indiscriminately and mosques, seminaries, shrines, churches and temples were not safe.

A representative of Hindu community, Ravi Dawani thanked the host and the Muslim community for expressing solidarity with the Hindus and said that if all sections of the society respected the religious sentiments of one another, violent incidents would not take place.

Mufti Jahangir Amjadi said that Pakistan was the fruit of teachings of Sufis who spread love and peace among the humanity. Talking to Dr Amir Liaquat on phone, Central Secretary General of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan (Sami), Maulana Abdur Rauf Farooqi said that the Ulema and the rulers should struggle for creating a harmonious environment for all communities.

Expressing his comments online, Dr Muhammad Hammad said that Islam was conspicuous with its teachings to treat the minorities well.In the beginning of the programme, Dr Amir condemned the incident of writing and disrespecting Islamic names on the roads of Tandu Ghulam Ali. He said that Muslims and non-Muslims in Pakistan were subject to insecurity and all schools of thought should unite to resolve this problem.Todays-News-2-242008-Ulema-see-conspiracy-to-target-Hindu-temples
