KASUR: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf chief Imran Khan has termed the remarks passed by British Prime Minister David Cameron insulting, saying it is not for the first time that such derogatory comments have been ignored. Imran Khan said this while talking to party leaders and the media people at a local hotel on Shahbaz Road here on Sunday. “Our rulers should have promptly reciprocated, but they lack self-respect and leadership qualities. Under these circumstances, President Asif Ali Zardari’s insistence on touring the UK has bewildered every loyal Pakistani”, he said. Mr Khan said Nawaz Sharif had kept a mum on the issue as he, like other politicians, had assets in billions in the UK and other European countries and he had no courage to take any risk. He said said the Al Qaeda was the product of CIA, but Pakistan was reaping a bitter harvest. He said no Pakistani was involved in the 9/11 incident, but it had to face consequences in the form of loss of $50 billion and more than 40,000 lives of its citizens. “Over 500 bomb blasts occurred so far in Pakistan itself speaks volumes for the efficiency of the present government”, he said. He said the extension given to the army chief reflected that individuals were stronger than institutions in Pakistan. The PTI chief said the corrupt people were sitting in parliament who wanted double standard of law, one for themselves and the other for the public. He said the legislators holding fake academic degrees should be dealt with in accordance with the law. Mr Khan said the big guns were involved in electricity theft in connivance with the Pepco staff, but not a single official was terminated, and the public was forced to suffer with the perpetual increase in power rates as a consequence. He said the NAB was not playing its due role of unraveling the corruption of the people in the corridors of power. About half of the population of the country was living below the poverty line while rulers were busy plundering the national wealth in the name of privatization, he said. The PTI chief claimed that he could resolve all the issues, including terrorism, price hike and unemployment, within 90 days if he was given the rein of the state. He said that he would clean bowl both Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari in the next general elections.
