Following the orders by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday authorities moved Brigidiar (Retd) Imtiaz and former Managing Director Oil and Gas Development Authority (OGDC) Adnan Khawaja to Adiala jail Rawalpindi, ARY NEWS reports.

Police arrested both the men from the court room earlier today after the apex court bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, ordered their arrestment during hearing of the NRO case.

Brigidiar (Retd.) Imtiaz and Adnan Khawaja were held for violating the Supreme Court's verdict on the NRO and have been directed to submit bail bonds within three days.

The court also issued orders for sending the summary of the NRO verdict to the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.

Imtiaz, former DG ISI, was sentenced 8 year jail in a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference but it was waived under NRO, however, he has yet to serve a jail term of four months.

Similarly, Khawaja, who was previously given two-year sentence, has yet to serve a 10-month jail term. His punishment was also slashed under NRO.

Khawaja was appointed as Managing Director OGDCL by the Prime Minister. However, the Supreme Court took suo moto notice of his hiring which prompted the ruling quarters to withdraw the notification for his appointment before hearing of the case in the apex court.

Gilani had put at risk the future of one of the most treasured government owned corporations, OGDC, by handing it over to one of his tainted jail-mate cronies, analysts said.

They said Khawaja’s only qualification was he had developed close association with PM Gilani when both were behind the bars on corruption charges.

Prior to joining OGDCL, he served as Chairman National Vocational and Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC) under Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Islamabad.
