Four people were injured as a result of a blast near the cafeteria in Karachi University on Tuesday.

Initial reports indicate that a low intensity bomb and was planted in the bushes close to the Masjid-ul Imran. The bomb went off when people were headed to the mosque for Zuhr prayers.

Express 24/7 correspondent Sabeen Agha reports that all exams scheduled for the day have been postponed and the university has been closed for the day.

Superintendent of Police Naeem Sheikh, speaking to Express News, said that one kilogramme of explosive material was used in the blast. He also said that proper security arrangements had not been made at the university.

According to Express 24/7 correspondent Sheheryar Mirza there were no major injuries in the blast.

A large number of students had been present at the university as it had re-opened after a recent closure due to clashes on campus.
