  1. Exports decrease due to energy crisis, political impasse

KARACHI: The government’s efforts to enhance exports have failed due to energy crisis and current political impasse.
Despite GSP Plus status from the EU, the exports have decreased. According to traders, trade deficit between July to November of current fiscal year increased $10 billion as compared to the same period of previous fiscal year. The imports reached $12 billion in the same period. Whereas export of sports goods came down to $9.9 billion with a decrease of 4 percent. Traders said they were facing difficulties in getting foreign orders due to energy crisis and political impasse.
