Prolonged announced and unannounced loadshedding continued in Lahore and other parts of the country, despite a weekly off on Sunday, adding to the hardship of citizens in the sweltering heat.

These days major cities of the country have been subjected to remain without power for up to 12 hour in a day while in rural areas this duration has reached up to 18-hour.

According to PEPCO spokesman, the power generation at the moment stands at 12939 MW against the demand of 17890 MW, thus a shortfall of 4951 MW.

He said KESC was still being provided 710 MW electricity per day.

The current hydel generation of the country is 5384 MW, thermal 1588 MW while IPPs are supplying 5800 MW electricity.
