Lashing out at Washington, PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif here Monday accused it of blatantly ruining the sovereignty of Pakistan through various means, including repeated drone attacks.
Nawaz was addressing a widely-attended public meeting at Islamgarh, a town in the outskirt of Mirpur, in connection with the election campaign of his party candidates contesting the scheduled June 26 AJK Legislative Assembly elections.
Nawaz said that the United States was indulging in “open attacks on our sovereignty and our rulers are responding as silent spectators to this sheer violation” and barbarity against the motherland.
Referring to the tragic incident of PNS Mehran, Karachi, the PML-N chief said that the Navel Chief had claimed that there was no security lapse in the incident. “Pakistan is facing worst jokes in its history one after the other,” Nawaz said.
Lambasting the former dictatorial regimes, Nawaz said that had country not suffered from repeated dictatorial eras and if the dictators had not dissolve the top judiciary and toppled elected democratic rules, Pakistan and its present young generation would not have been facing such worst condition.
Nawaz said one military dictator put a prime minister to gallows and another arrested an elected prime minister after a coup and dispatched him abroad in chains. How the country could smoothly run the path of speedy progress and prosperity when it faces repeated dictatorships.
Nawaz feared that Pakistan could fall deeper in the precipice if the mandate of 180 million Pakistanis was ruined time and again. He pointed out that the PML-N governments in the past were toppled twice. He said that by toppling an elected democratic government of the PML-N, Musharraf created a bad image for Pakistan abroad at a time when the country was being brought in the ranks of the developed nations through a network of motorways. He accused Musharraf of authoring loadshedding in Pakistan. He also held Pervez Musharraf responsible for the killing of top Baloch leader Akbar Khan Bugti besides indulging in bloodshed of innocent people in Karachi with the alleged connivance of the MQM.
Expressing grave concern over the delay in the formation of an inquiry commission to probe the May 2 US Abbottabad raid to kill Osama bin Laden (OBL), Nawaz asked President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani to let the nation know about the causes of delay in the formation of the judicial commission.
