Ameer Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JD) Hafiz Muhammad Saeed has filed a Constitutional petition in the Lahore High Court to get implemented the May 14th resolution passed by the Parliament against the US drone attacks as well as directing the govt for stopping action by any foreign forces on the Pakistani soil.
The petitioner has also prayed for a direction of the court for blocking supplies of NATO/ISAF forces in Afghanistan if drone attacks do not stop.
The petition filed through advocate A.K.Dogar stated that under Article 19 of the Constitution every citizen has the fundamental right of access to information in all matters of public importance.
The petition further stated that a direction may be issued to the government to lay open before the public if any secret ‘deal’ that has been reached with US (on drone attacks) so that the people may know about the protection of their life at the hand of foreign forces which are on killing spree in the name of ‘pre-emptive strikes’.
‘May 14th resolution of the Parliament reflects voice of the people and needs to be implemented in letter and spirit to enable the nation to live with respect and dignity like an independent sovereign state’, the petitioner stated. The citizens of Pakistan cannot be forced to live like slaves, he added.
