The US has expressed satisfaction over the just concluded foreign secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan. “We are very gratified to see the two sides (India and Pakistan) talking and we look forward to the outcome,” State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland said.
“We were just very pleased to see them talking,” Nuland said in response to a question. Two days of talks between Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir and his counterpart Nirupama Rao on Friday ended in Islamabad on a positive note paving the way for discussions between foreign ministers of the two countries in New Delhi next month.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has proposed the last week of July for crucial foreign minister-level talks with India in New Delhi.
Indian news agency PTI citing Pakistani sources said the proposed time frame had been communicated to India.
The exact dates for the planned talks which are to be held in July will be finalised through diplomatic channels.
The foreign minister-level talks will be preceded by another round of parleys between the foreign secretaries of two countries, who concluded their two-day deliberations in Islamabad.
