Former U.S Ambassador to Pakistan, Anne Patterson says that South Asia is that part of the world which has the lowest level of intra-regional trade. According to Patterson considering the size of the trade markets of both India and Pakistan the potential for India-Pakistan trade is not only beneficial for both countries but also for the entire region. She also says that even though nothing concrete came out of the recent talks between the Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan, she is hopeful about the future, based on her extensive experience in the region. Ambassador Patterson also emphasized on the fact that the past has demonstrated how both countries have come forward on pressing issues such as Kashmir, and if the talks continue, the future outcome for both countries can be something that the world has never seen before.
