The spate of violence in Karachi has not ceased even during the holy month of Ramazan.
Earlier in order to 'deweaponise' Karachi, Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Monday had said all old arms licenses will be void from August 31 and only computerised licences will be acceptable after the said date.
Speaking to the media in Karachi, the interior minister said anyone with an arms license will have to surrender it and receive a computerisd one. He said all zonal headquarters of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) have been directed on the matter.
Malik said anyone found carrying a weapon without a license will be charged under the Pakistan Arms Ordinance and the Anti-Terrorism Act, with sentences varying from seven to fourteen years
