KARACHI - Police recovered 57 chained students detained in a seminary at an Afghan camp on Monday evening.
The police raided a seminary, Zikriya, and recovered 57 students, aged between 15 to 40 years.
There was an underground hall where all the victims were being kept. The police said that the seminary administration had got written at the entrance of basement that “the area is restricted for drug addicts”.
The police arrested administrator Maulana Usman while chief cleric Mufti Dawood fled. Most of the detainees were from KP. When contacted, Sohrab Goth DSP Mukhtar said that further investigation of the case was underway. He quoted Maulana Usman to have said that the detainees were drug addicts and the seminary administration was trying to rehabilitate them.
