ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday termed the statement of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in connection with holding of by-elections 'not based on facts', Geo News reported.

According to a statement, the Supreme Court had on January 19 stopped ECP from holding the by-elections on old voters list having unverified voters.

It said that the electoral rolls of Nadra and Election Commission of Pakistan contained more than 37.7 million bogus votes.

The Supreme Court said it was the Constitutional duty of the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold elections on verified and authentic voters list.
