LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif, has formed a special committee to improve the plight of hospitals, Geo News reported.

The body was formed in a high-level meeting held after a laboratory in London found traces of an antimalarial in one of the drugs suspected to have caused the deadly reactions, which killed more than hundred patients in Lahore.

The new committee, to be headed by chief secretary, would prepare its recommendations on how to put the purchase of drugs in order apart from the general affairs of hospitals in Punjab.

The committee would also revise recruitment process for drug inspectors.

Shahbaz ordered setting up of special counters to recall Isotab tablets from all over the province as well as launching a massive awareness campaign on all media.
