The Lahore High Court has suspended all sentences against Interior Minister Rehman Malik and accepted his petition for hearing in this regard.

A divisional bench comprising Chief Justice Khawaja Muhamamd Sharif and Justice Manzoor Malik heard the case. Malik’s counsel Chaudhry Mushtaq told the court that Rehman Malik was convicted in the cases in absentia, and requested the court to suspend the terms as nobody could be convicted in absentia. CJ LHC Justice Khawaja made a query that how come the petition being filed after a lapse of so many years. The court, however, suspended all the sentences after hearing the arguments and adjourned the court till January 11.

While talking to the reporters after the hearing, Rehman denied all the corruption charges saying that had he committed any corruption, he would have resigned.
Meanwhile, Karachi Accountability Court has summoned the Interior Minister on January 8.
