Rental Power project audit report of Asian Development Bank (ADB) reveals that electricity tariff would increase within the range of 31% to 47% if 14 rental power projects would be installed. The report also states that the rental power project deal was carried out in haste and after the deal changes were made in the report that would have favored the seller.

According to the report the production capability of the rental power project is 35%, however the seller would be paid 90% of the amount. According to sources even after the installation of the 14 power plants, load shedding will not end immediately.
According to Dr Salman Shah the charges of rental power are set at a very high price level and the rental power that would be imported are very old and would consume large amounts of fuel. He further said that Hydro Electric power generation is a much cheaper option.
