President Asif Ali Zardari has rejected the plan of 44 Megawatt power plant at Chashma-Jhelum link canal for production of electricity.

President said that coalition between PPP and MQM will be maintained because even worst democracy is better than dictatorship. A meeting was held late night at Bilawal House Karachi in which Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen, Minister for Water and Electricity Raja Parvaiz Ashraf and MD PEPCO Basharat were also present. On this occasion President directed Minister for Water and Electricity and MD PEPCO to start implementing upon the previous agreements of electricity.
In a meeting in Sindh Assembly, it was mutually decided to close down the power plant at canal because the canal is illegal. After which it was decided that no power plant will ever be made on this canal.
