As many as four adjournment motions have been submitted in the National Assembly for deliberation against the conviction of Dr Aafia by US jury recently.
The NA session started under the chair of Faisal Karim Kundi. Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that either Aafia or Shazia, all are same for Pakistan. He said that he was ready to give an in-camera briefing on Blackwater, Dr Aafia and security situation to the National Assembly. He noted that Blackwater personnel’s presence in the country was not proved in FIA, ISI, IB and MI reports. Rehman condemned the thrashing of a professor in NUML University, however, added that the Registrar and professor patched up. Later, PML-Q Barjees Tahir, MQM Abdul Qadeer Khanzada and PPP Jamshed Dasti protested on the absence of ministers from the Assembly session.
