Pakistan Muslim League-N Chief Nawaz Sharif Thursday said the matter of constitutional amendments has been hit by expediencies and that no agreement has been reached with the government on judges’ appointment.

Addressing a press conference here, Nawaz Sharif said the dream of repeal of the 17th amendment still remains a dream and ‘our recommended constitutional amendments have been disregarded completely.’

Nawaz Sharif said: “The authority to appoint judges should not rest with an individual and for that matter not even with the President or the Chief Justice of Pakistan.” The judges’ appointment should be made in consultation with the Chief Justice, he advised.

“We want that the new name for NWFP be recommended with a consensus,” the PML-N Chief said.
