BALASORE, ODISHA: The first test-firing of India's indigenously developed cruise missile, called Nirbhay, has failed, SAMAA reported.

Indian media reports said the launch of medium range sub-sonic cruise missile was a failure as the missile's flight had to be terminated halfway after it deviated from its course.

The surface-to-surface missile failed to hit the target.

The launch of the sophisticated missile was carried out at Chandipur, about 15 km from Balasore, in the presence of top defence scientists and senior officials, reports say.

Indian defence officials claimed that the missile has the capability of being launched from land, sea and air, adding Nirbhay has good stealth features as well. -- SAMAA
