The renowned religious scholar Dr Israr Ahmed has passed away after a protracted illness in Lahore early Wednesday morning.
Dr Israr was born in 1932 in the Indian city of Haryana. In 1954, he graduated from King Edward College Lahore and in 1965 he earned a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies from Karachi University.
He was the founder of Tanzeem-e-Islami. Dr Israr Ahmad resigned from the Jama`at in April 1957 because of its involvement in the electoral politics.
According to family sources, he was suffering from back-pain and heart disorders since long .
His funeral prayer will be offered in Model Town today.
