Former NWFP Chief Minister Sardar Mehtab Abbasi on Saturday resigned from his National Assembly seat as well as party membership on his differences with party leadership over the issue of renaming NWFP as Pakhtunkhwa.

Abbasi has sent his resignation to PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif. Talking to a private channel after tendering his resignation, Abbasi said he had resigned because of his differences over renaming the province as Pakhtunkhwa. “Had I been elected member of NA as independent, I would have sent my resignation to NA Speaker directly but I was elected on PML-N ticket therefore, I had sent my resignation to speaker through PML-N,” Mehtab Abbasi told.
