The Pakistan People’s Party decided to take “appropriate legal actions” against all those, including former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf, who were named in the UN report as responsible for the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. In the latest development six police officers have been demoted to the rank of OSD.

After chairing a meeting of the party’s ‘core group’ at the Presidency on Saturday night, President Asif Zardari asked Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to take action in the light of the UN report.
The officers demoted include RPO Rawalpindi Saoud Aziz, Additional IG Punjab Afzal Majid, SSP operation Yasin Farooq, SP Khurram Shezad and SP Asfaq Anwar.
Sindh Home Minister Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza has urged the Punjab government to take action against those people who been indicated in the UN commission report.
Addressing the representatives of the media Mirza said that he, Rehman Malik and all those party members who have been pointed out by the UN commission are ready to defend themselves anywhere around the country. He said that he tried his level best to ensure the safety of Benazir. He also hinted that all efforts would be made to bring back all the accused to justice.
