Five senior police officers on Tuesday recorded their statements before fact-finding commission constituted by the government to probe into the hosing down of former PM Benazir Bhutto’s murder scene at Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi. Former Rawalpindi CPO Saud Aziz, Rawalpindi Sadar Division additional SP Syed Ashfaq Anwar, Gujranwala SSP (Investigation) Khurram Shahzad Haider, Incharge City Police Station Inspector Kashif Riaz and Rawalpindi SSP (Operations) Yasin Farooq Sheikh appeared before the commission and recorded their statements. Former Director General Military Intelligence Nadeem Ejaz will appear before the body to record his version on washing-off BB murder site. Bhutto was assassinated in an apparent suicide attack on Dec. 27, 2007, after addressing an election rally in Rawalpindi. Local authorities had hosed down her assassination site soon after the attack, destroying all potential evidences. The committee headed by Cabinet Secretary Abdul Rauf Chaudhry is determining whether the then DG MI ordered authorities washing the crime scene. The Committee will submit its report to the Prime Minister within seven working days.
