The immigrant couple often loudly quarreled, neighbors said, and added that Iqbal’s ice cream business failed last year and had lately been driving a livery cab.

It’s unclear what the two were fighting that morning about, but neighbors said they were being evicted that day for not paying rent and Mahel had been talking about returning to Morocco.

Iqbal has been charged with second-degree murder by the Queens District Attorney Richard Brown because the body was found in Queens, even though the murder suspect and the victim belonged to Bay Ridge neighborhood of Brooklyn Boro.

“The defendant is accused of senselessly murdering his girlfriend –with whom he had two children – and tossing her body out like a piece of trash,” Brown said.

The children, Isaac, 5, and Omar, 8, are in the care of Administration for Children’s Services, authorities said.
