Former president Pervez Musharraf has announced that he would contest the next general election in the country even if they were held on a mid-term basis, a private TV channel reported on Friday. Addressing the members of his party, All-Pakistan Muslim League, in a video message shown at the residence of Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Musharraf said he had 200,000 fans on the social networking website, Facebook, adding that they had asked him to come back to Pakistan. Seeking the support of the public, Musharraf said he believed Pakistan had the potential to progress as a developed and prosperous country. “If you’ll support me, InshaAllah, I won’t let you down,” he said.
