Supreme Court has summoned Minister of Law Dr Babar Awan as the court adjourned the hearing of NRO verdict implementation case till May 25 on Friday.

Federal Law Secretary Justice (retd.) Aqil Mirza could not appear before the five-member SC bench, headed by Justice Nasirul Mulk, hearing the NRO implementation case.

Attorney-General Anwarul Haq informed the court that the law secretary Justice (retd.) Aqil Mirza was ill and could not appear before the court. while his resignation has also been accepted and a notification to this effect has been issued.

Justice Nasirul Mulk in his remarks said that the government statements are contradictory; initially the court was informed that the letter for Swiss cases has been sent, later it was said that there is no need of writting the letter, now being said that the Secretary of Law was ailing. "In this situation it is very necessary that a responsible government person should appear before the court to highlight the government stand," Justice Nasirul Mulk said.

The court ordered the Federal Minister of Law Babar Awan to appear before the court in hearing on May 25.
