The Irish official Warren McCully, who played a pivotal role to ensure that Pakistan does not qualify for the final of Azlan Shah Hockey tournament has been banned.
Warren gave several controversial decisions during Pakistan’s game against South Korea. He awarded a wrong plenty stroke to the South Korea just six minutes prior to close of the play which proved to be the turning point of the game. He also unfairly booked Pakistani skipper Muhammad Imran by showing him a red card.
Pakistani coach filed an official appeal against the Irish official to the management of the tournament. The director of the Azlan Shah tournament imposed a ban the official and consequently was not allowed to enter into the stadium.
