China: An explosion at the arrival hall of Beijing's Capital International Airport shocked travelers and injured one person on Saturday, ARY News has learnt.

According to local media reports the strong explosion occurred about 6.24pm on Saturday at Terminal 3 of the Beijing airport.

Local media reported that the victim has been rushed to hospital, but his condition remains unknown.

There are reports that the explosion may have been caused by someone in a wheelchair.

Eyewitnesses have claimed that a man was sitting in the arrivals hall, shouting and holding a small bag in the air before the explosion took place.

It is understood airport operations are now back to normal.
