About 15-20 Tamil sympathisers attacked the Sri Lankan High Commission building in New Delhi on Friday, smashing windows and flower pots inside the compound but no staff was hurt in the incident. The attack occurred in the high-security diplomatic enclave in Chanakyapuri, in the Indian capital, where many foreign missions are located.

"Some of the sympathisers managed to scale the perimeter wall of the embassy and enter the compound. Though we have police protection it was unfortunate that this incident could not be stopped. "We will bring this matter up to the Indian government and lodge a police report," Sugeeshwara Gunaratna, Sri Lanka's First Secretary at the high commission, told a Delhi news channel, in a phone interview. Police had not arrested any protestors as all of them managed to escape from the spot.
