* Raja Pervez says load shedding may last until mid-2010
* Difficult for govt to move forward without addressing power crisis

Criticism of the rental power plants (RPP) has fostered fear among investors, which may delay the RPPs and hamper the government’s efforts to end load shedding by December 2009, Federal Water and Power Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf said on Saturday.

He told journalists after chairing the 83rd meeting of the Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) that the government had accorded top priority to ending the power shortage to encourage industrial development. He said needless delays cause billions of rupees of losses in the form of decreased industrial output. He said this increased unemployment and encouraged importers to opt for other markets.
