Aftab Sultan, an additional inspector-general of Punjab police, has been appointed to head an investigation into the Bank of Punjab scam.

The Supreme Court bench comprised of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry, Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday in previous hearing directed the government for re-notification of appointment of Aftab Sultan as head of the probe.

The notification said that Mr Sultan would assist the NAB chairman in investigating the scam.

The court was informed today that the establishment division has issued the new notification under which Mr Aftab Sultan will head the NAB inquiry.
