PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif says President Asif Zardari has played a role in his disqualification and end of Shahbaz Sharif’s government.

In a hard hitting interview with a TV channel, Sharif said Zardari was initially ready to restore judges but later he had change of heart.

He said it was his biggest mistake to appoint Musharraf as COAS. He said it was the time to raise public issues.

Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif visited Data Darbar on Monday to pay homage to the saint and show their solidarity with the victims of twin blasts that rocked the Data Darbar Complex on Thursday.

The former prime minister also offered prayers at the shrine. He visited the damaged portion of the complex and got a briefing on human and financial losses.

The PML-N chief, whose party rules Punjab, said it was the responsibility of the government to ensure security and peace at worship places and take to task the elements playing with the lives of innocent and unarmed people and desecrating shrines.

Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Zaheeruddin with members of the Provincial Assembly Mohsin Leghari, Dr Samia Amjad, Amna Ulfat, Zobia Rubab Malik and Seemal Kamran also visited the shrine.

Zaheeruddin called the blasts an attack on the 1,000-year-old cultural history of the city, and said the coalition partners in the Punjab government – the PML-N and the PPP —were equally responsible for the incident. He said coalition partners were trading blames only to escape accountability.

The opposition leader supported calls for the resignation of Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and other officials responsible for poor security arrangements for the shrine, a demand by the Sunni Ittehad Council.
