LAHORE: The office of the prime minister is ‘feeling uneasy’ over the appointment of Zain Sukhera to an important position in the Ministry of Information Technology, sources told Daily Times on Friday.

Official sources said Sukhera had disappeared nearly a year ago, when his name surfaced in a real estate and banking scam. “Sukhera at that point in time was mentioning many names, including the prime minister’s,” the sources said.

However, he was discreetly pushed to the background after the government became suspicious about his activities when certain investors tried to ascertain his credentials fromthe prime minister’s office.

“Senior aides to the prime minister were recently surprised to see Sukhera emerging from the shadows riding on the shoulders of Adviser to the PM on IT Latif Khosa,” the sources said. “They have cautioned the advisor to the PM to keep a watchful eye on the activities of Sukhera in an apparent move to protect the image of the PM,” the sources added.
